He called a tow truck and the tow truck driver said all there personal and private vehicle's goes there. When I arrived the tech already had diagnosed the problem and had found a new part. They even let her sit inside the AC with the dog until I got there. This was in the afternoon, they called the next morning letting me know the truck was ready for pickup. Fuel pump went out, so they had to drop the 26 gallon tank full of gas. My wife was very impressed with how nice the Guys were to her and the Dog. “Every parent with a college kid headed in their car to Panama City for Spring Break needs to read this. Our Son drives a 2003 Toyota 4Runner. On the last part of the trip down from North Carolina with his 3 friends his engine developed an undetected, but bad oil leak. It never got to the point that is caused the oil pressure light to come on, but the next morning there was a large pool of oil under the car. He called AAA, after calling home, and they towed it to Tuffy Tire and Auto. I had never heard of Tuffy so I read the reviews and felt better, but still apprehensive I called them. I ended up talking with Gary. The leak had been very large and the entire front of the engine was saturated in oil, the serpentine belt was trashed, the alternator was dripping oil from the inside and many other component's were damaged. They refilled the engine with oil to see where it was coming from and narrowed it down, but It took over a day for them to get it disassembled to the point they could nail it down. It turned out to be a leak at the upper oil pan, which appeared to have a manufacturing issue that finally surfaced. To make a long story short the total repair was nearly $4,000. The parts weren't that bad, considering I had him replace a bunch of parts beyond what was damaged, including the timing chain/guides and water pump, thermostat, etc. When you have the engine that far apart you take care of these things. His 4Runner is 4 wheel drive, so getting to the upper oil pan involved removing the front axels and front differential, as well a bunch of other things so the labor was the big part of the job. Gary walked me through the entire process. I'm an engineer and have done my share of mechanical work through my career and working on my own cars. Gary was great, and I had every confidence the work was being done right, and that they were treating me fairly. 2 messages here. AAA is well worth the cost, and reliable, and if you have a child in Panama City Beach you can trust Tuffy Tire and Auto. These guys actually care about you when you have a problem on vacation.”

Again, this year, they were wonderful. The staff always makes you feel welcome. The gentleman who changed the oil came in and sat with me to chat about my car. He said I would be needing a transmission fluid service. I was surprised because I have had that done twice recently. He explained why it still was a bit dirty. I left so happy I could jump and click my heels. The first flush was at my favorite independent garage. Not long after, my favorite dealership said it needed to be done. I was perplexed because it had just been done, but I had it done again because I am in for the long haul with this car. I have over 145,000 on my car and I take very good care of it. Several days later it reoccurred and I brought it back. Andy quickly determined that an engine belt was occasionally rubbing on a plastic shield and fixed it without additional charge. Friday afternoon on July 4th weekend we were headed back to Atlanta after our vacation and the water pump on our GMC Yukon blew. Our car was loaded with all of our bags and we had our bikes on a bike rack. There were no rental cars available and I had no idea how we were going to find a place to stay and manage to get our belongings to and from the service center. The assistant manager and Clyde (our service tech) agreed to stay late and fix our car so that we could make it back to Atlanta without the hassle and expense the overnight was going to cause. Their prices were reasonable, they had all the parts in stock, everyone was super friendly, they were very knowledgeable and they stayed late to fix our car. I don't see how you could possibly do better than Tuffy PCB for car service.”

“When our car sprang a hefty leak in the cooling system on the way to Panama City Beach for a much-anticipated vacation, I was very afraid that we'd become another horror story about tourists being ripped by local mechanic shops. We arrived on a Sunday evening and I immediately started searching for a respected place to get the work done. I consulted local people at the hotel, ran thru the Yellow Pages, ran the Internet and checked into the BBB lists for Panama City Beach and finally decided to go with Tuffy. I was waiting at their door when they opened on Monday morning and I cannot be happier about their immediate concern, helpfulness and professionalism. They checked the car, found the leak in the heater core, and gave me a very decent (considering) estimate for the cost. (And the final bill was NOT "run up!) The entire dash of our car, a 2006 Ford Fusion, had to almost be "gutted" to get to the core but when they were finished, the car only needed a couple of minor "tweaks" to wrap up a very thorough job. I don't believe that I could have gotten a dealer to do it any cheaper or any better and I highly recommend Gary and his crew to any out-of-towners who need auto service when in the area. I do NOT normally give "testimonial" like this but I am making this one because they went out of their way to help us when we REALLY needed it. Trust is hard to give; I'd use them again and want to thank them again for helping out a couple of tourists who were stuck in a bad situation.
